Home About Us Program Elements The Women News and Events Resources Get Involved
A primary motivator for women throughout life is establishing a strong sense of connection with others. This is especially important for women coming out of prison, as most have lives shattered by abuse, addiction, violence, isolation, and poverty. At Ka Hale Ho‘āla Hou No Nā Wāhine, we practice the values of our host culture, living and acting as one ‘ohana (family). Through participation in the Hui Alaka‘i (leadership group), residents work side-by-side with staff to maintain daily program functions, plan celebrations and events, organize community outreach, and contribute to policy development. Within the supportive environment of our program, women experience healthy relationships and learn to trust themselves and others. This reinforces their desire and ability to make better choices and to take control of their lives.
